UPCOMING COMMUNITY MEETING, WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!!!

There will be a meeting at Sage Collegiate on Wed Nov 15th at both 2pm and 6pm. We are asking all neighbors to attend. This is our first formal opportunity to address the school with our concerns and ask questions from the school director and the builders. Please join us, we need your help!

Who hurt you?

Welcome to “Just Say No to Sage” – the voice of Meadows South standing up against the detrimental effects of Sage Collegiate on our community.

Why are we here? Our neighborhood has been adversely affected by the negligence of the city and the disruptive practices of Sage Collegiate. We seek the support of our community to join us in taking action.

Living on the 1000 block of Bedford or passing by, you’re likely familiar with the nuisance Sage Collegiate has become. From the relentless noise of unsupervised children to the littering of our backyards during school hours, the impact is impossible to ignore.

Despite its name, Sage Collegiate falls below even the dismal state averages. It’s more of a glorified daycare center for elementary school students than an educational institution.

Adding insult to injury, the city approved a stealthy expansion plan for a new 3-story building on our doorsteps without consulting the neighborhood. Despite promises of community engagement from the school director, Sandra Kinne, our attempts to voice concerns and arrange meetings have been repeatedly ignored. [EDIT: We finally got our meeting, however none of our concerns have been alleviated. In fact I have even less confidence in the school and the development than prior to the meeting]

Noise complaints have been met with dismissive responses, disregarding the disruption to our daily lives. We were blindsided by the pre-approval of the expansion, receiving notice only after the fact, just like many of you.

The influx of traffic during school hours already makes certain streets impassable, and the proposed expansion will only worsen the situation. Despite our persistent efforts, we’ve been denied access to critical traffic studies that were supposedly conducted, leaving us in the dark about the real impact. [EDIT- Our Councilman was able to get the traffic studies to us. Thank you, Brian Knudsen. The traffic study is sus from what I can tell. It uses last year’s traffic count paired up with this year’s student count to forecast future traffic.]

It’s evident that our neighborhood’s interests are being overlooked in favor of convenient agreements between private firms and the city. The time to act is now before irreversible damage is done to our community.

Join us in safeguarding Meadows South. Your support is crucial in preserving the well-being of our neighborhood and ensuring a better future for all.
